English painter, illustrator and designer, Rex John Reginald 'Whistler, Whistler, John, Reginald Whistler, or popularly known as Rex Whistler, was born June 24, 1905 in Eltham, Kent in Britain. His parents, Henry and Helen Frances Mary Whistler, sent to board at Haileybury in May 1919. Here, John developed his taste for art. He was accepted into the Royal Academy art schools in London, under Charles Sims. It was soon over, however, as it was considered unfit and incompetent. In 1922, Rex Whistler was transferred to the Slade School of Fine Arts, London, where he met British aristocrat Stephen Tennant, who became his best friend. Tennant also worked as a model for many of the figurative works of Whistler. Whistler Tennant presented the poet, Siegfried Sassoon, and his future wife, Hester.
John Whistler was greatly inspired by painters such as Henry Tonks, Poussin, Claude, Watteau, Boucher, and Canaletto, while finding the Georgian architecture and fascinating. 'Renaissance Baroque' influenced most of his works and therefore considered unsuitable for decorative and gallery exhibitions. This contempt for his art was mainly attributed to the fact that the works of Rex were "nonconforming" and not go along the stream of "modern tendencies" in art contemporary. His style was considered ostentatious and vulgar. However, his personal relationship with members of the group, "Bright Young Things," which includes Sitwell, Mitfords, Stephen Tennant and Cecil Beaton, opened several doors of entry into the aristocratic circles that value their murals and designs cottage. Post Slade Rex Whistler had a successful career as a professional artist.
The artist painted a mural entitled "In Search of undercooked meat (1926-1927)," to coffee at the Tate Gallery in London, and also created the 47-foot fantasy Claudia Plas Newydd, Isle of Anglesey. At Plas Newydd, the artist met the daughter of the Marquis session of Anglesey, Lady Caroline Paget. Are said to have a romantic relationship with John painted several portraits of her, including a nude. During his stay in the cafeteria, major concerns, like Shell Petroleum and the Radio Times gave prestige assignments. Whistler made some illustrations for books, including editions of "The Travel Gulliver "by the Anglo-Irish writer, Jonathan Swift, and the Danish author, Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales". He was also involved in work stage, including streams for the production of 1934 of "The Tempest" by William Shakespeare, and 1935 production of the opera "The Rake's Progress.
During World War II, Whistler, John joined the Welsh Guards Armored Division, while continuing to work as an artist professional in their spare time. Noteworthy among his works during this period was a fine pencil portrait of his Command Sergeant Sherlock. Whistler died at a young age 39, after being hit by a mortar shell on his first day of action during the invasion of Normandy in Caen, France, 18 July 1944. His body was buried in the Banneville-la-Campagne War Cemetery in Calvados.

Has anyone read The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan?
Yes, and I recommend it. However, if you can get an upgrade version. I have a dramatized audio version of which is a joy to hear, and is more encouraging.
